Norwegian Fiddler Alexander Rybak Wins Eurovision Song Contest

May 17 (Bloomberg) -- Alexander Rybak, a 23-year-old singer and violinist representing Norway, claimed a victory in the Eurovision Song Contest, the world’s most-watched singing competition.

Rybak clinched the Eurovision trophy with his performance of the song “Fairytale,” winning 387 votes. People in 42 European nations were eligible to vote by phone and text message. Entertainers representing 25 countries took part in tonight’s final in Moscow.

Iceland and Azerbaijan placed second and third.
