July 12 (Bloomberg) -- Vice President Dick Cheney had no cardiac irregularities in his annual physical checkup today, spokeswoman Megan Mitchell said.
Cheney hasn't had any recurrence of the irregular heartbeat he was treated for last year, Mitchell said in an e-mailed statement. His ``cardiac status remains stable,'' she said.
Cheney, 67, has had four heart attacks, all of them before he became vice president in 2000. He has also had quadruple bypass surgery, two angioplasties, and surgery on his leg to repair a kind of aneurysm. Stents placed in the arteries behind Cheney's knees in 2005 are functioning normally, Mitchell said.
In November, he was treated for atrial fibrillation, a type of heart arrhythmia. Last summer, the defibrillator implanted in his chest to regulate his heartbeat was replaced with a new one with fresh batteries.
