Oct. 2 (Bloomberg) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she is optimistic that the financial-rescue plan will win House approval tomorrow in a vote intended to boost the confidence of investors.
``We must send a message of confidence to the markets,'' Pelosi, a California Democrat, told reporters at a press conference in Washington.
She said she won't allow a vote on the measure unless it is certain to pass.
``We're not going to take a bill to the floor that doesn't have the votes,'' she said. ``I'm optimistic that we will take a bill to the floor.''
The Senate last night approved the bailout plan that funds the biggest government intervention in the markets since the Great Depression. The House is scheduled to vote on the plan tomorrow.
The House rejected the rescue plan 228-205, with just 140 Democrats and 65 Republicans supporting it, earlier this week.
