Chile Economy Slowing on Cheap Dollar, Inflation, Bachelet Says
By Sebastian Boyd
June 20 (Bloomberg) -- Chile's economy has slowed on the U.S. slump, rising energy prices and cheap dollar, President Michelle Bachelet said today in a Radio Cooperativa interview.
``It's all come at once,'' Bachelet said. ``We have inflation, a low dollar, which is good for some things and bad for others, and that means that the Chilean economy has slowed its rhythm.''
Chile remains well-positioned to face a global slowdown, she said. The slump in U.S. housing industry has reduced demand for Chilean products, she said.
