Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Colombian political parties united behind the government’s decision to lodge a formal complaint with the Organization of American States over comments made by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, daily El Tiempo reported.
Parties across Colombia’s political spectrum, including the Polo Democratico Alternativo, the Liberal Party, La U and Conservative party, rejected what they view as intervention by Chavez in Colombian politics, the Bogota-based daily said.
Colombia yesterday sought an OAS motion rejecting “blatant intervention” by Chavez after the Venezuelan leader, during his Aug. 23 “Alo Presidente” television program, urged members of his party to strengthen ties with socialists in Colombia.
