Nov. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Ida weakened to a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico, as it headed for landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast tomorrow, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said today.

The system had maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour, down from about 105 mph earlier today.
