Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Petroleo Brasileiro SA, Brazil's state-controlled oil company, plans to start production from an oil well in the so-called pre-salt area on Aug. 12, Estado de S. Paulo newspaper reported, citing unidentified people involved in the project.
The well is in the Campos Basin's Jubarte field and output may be 10,000 to 15,000 barrels a day, the Brazilian newspaper said. The oil will be extracted by the P-34 platform, which has already been installed, according to Estado.
The Cachalote field, next to Jubarte, will start production from pre-salt reservoirs in October, Estado reported.
The start of production in the Jubarte pre-salt area will be a test for the development of large oil fields discovered in the Santos Basin, such as Tupi, according to Estado.
