Colombia’s FARC Kills Three in Cali Bomb Attack, Caracol Says

By Helen Murphy

Feb. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Colombia’s biggest rebel group detonated a car bomb in Cali last night, killing three people and injuring 30 others, Caracol Radio reported.

The bomb, which was situated close to a police station in the center of Cali, Colombia’s third-biggest city, exploded at 10:15 p.m. New York time and damaged surrounding buildings, the radio cited Mayor Jorge Ivan Ospina as saying. A man, thought by authorities to be involved in the attack, was killed by police after the attack, Caracol says.

President Alvaro Uribe accused the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia of being responsible for the attack, Caracol reported. On Jan. 28 the FARC exploded a bomb in Bogota, killing two people.
