Argentina’s Redrado Says Economy to Grow 3% in 2010 (Update1)

By Laura Price and Juan Pablo Spinetto

Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina’s central bank President Martin Redrado expects the economy to grow at least 3 percent in 2010 and sees further strong demand for food products.

“We are set forth for important growth, also looking at food prices,” Redrado said in an interview with Bloomberg Television in St. Andrews, Scotland, today. “Argentina is a very strong agribusiness producer and therefore we continue to see strong demand in these products.”

Redrado, who is in the U.K. for a meeting with other Group of 20 finance heads, said South America is emerging “much stronger,” from the global crisis than other countries, together with east Asia. South America is a “winner” in terms of financial stability, he said.

Brazil’s economy will “easily” grow 5 percent next year, Finance Minister Guido Mantega told Bloomberg Television in a Nov. 5 interview. Redrado also said today gross domestic product growth next year “can be higher” than 3 percent.
