Mexico Raises Daily Minimum Wage 4 Percent to $4.86 in 2008

Dec. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Mexico will raise the minimum daily wage by 4 percent in 2008, just above the annual inflation rate.
The minimum wages in Mexico's three geographic zones will be raised on Jan. 1, the National Minimum Wage Commission said today in a statement. The annual inflation rate in November was 3.93 percent.
The minimum wage in Zone A, which includes Mexico City, Acapulco and several cities on the U.S. border such as Ciudad Juarez, will increase to 52.59 pesos ($4.86) a day.
In 2007, the increase of the minimum wage was 3.9 percent.
