Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Canadian trading today. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are from today's close in Toronto.
The Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index gained 0.4 percent to 9,596.21.
Gold producers and miners rallied after bullion capped its first weekly gain in a month as a declining U.S. dollar boosted demand. European Gold Lt. (EGU CT) gained 9.4 percent to C$1.75. Lundin Mining Co. (LUN CN) gained the most on the S&P/TSX index, climbing 17 percent to C$1.83. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX CN) rose 2.4 to C$28.16. Goldcorp Inc. (G CN) advanced 4.3 percent to C$26.14. Kinross Gold (K CN) jumped 5.8 percent to C$15.09.
Air Canada (AC/A CN) fell 16 percent to C$4.50, the biggest decline in a month. The country's largest carrier reported a third-quarter loss of C$1.32 a share on expenses tied to jet- fuel contracts and foreign exchange costs.
Air Canada is a unit of Montreal-based Ace Aviation Holdings Inc. (ACE/B CN). Ace shares fell 11 percent to C$5.20.
Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (BAM/A CN) rallied 2.8 percent to C$21.38. The Toronto-based manager of $90 billion in assets such as power plants posted third-quarter profit that beat estimates as earnings in its commercial property business advanced.
FNX Mining Co. (FNX CN) slid 1.2 percent to C$3.98. The nickel and copper producer was cut to ``sector perform'' at RBC Capital Markets. FNX also had cut its price estimate cut by 25 percent to C$6 at UBS AG, which said the company's third-quarter loss of 16 cents missed a 3-cent profit estimate.
Other copper producers fell, following the metal's decline. Mercator Minerals Ltd. (ML CN) fell the most on the S&P/TSX, sliding 24 percent to C$1.47. Quadra Mining Ltd. (QUA CN) slumped 8.5 percent to C$4.
Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. (POT CN) climbed 1.9 percent to C$96. The world's largest producer of the fertilizer signed tentative agreements to end a three-month strike by workers at three Canadian mines. Japanese buyers also agreed to pay higher prices for shipments of potash for the first half of 2009, Canpotex Ltd. said.
Ruggedcom Inc. (RCM CN) added 5.5 percent to C$11.50, the biggest rise in more than a week. The maker of networking equipment and software posted second-quarter earnings of 26 cents a share, beating the average analyst estimate by 88 percent.
Telus Corp. (T CN) fell for a third day, dropping 3.7 percent to C$39.29. Canada's second-largest telephone company, reported sales and profit that missed analysts' estimates after customers dropped home lines and switched to wireless handsets.
Vecima Networks Inc. (VCM CN) fell 4 percent to C$4.80. The maker of Internet-based phone equipment increased its stake in Redline Communication Group Inc. to 14 percent and may boost it to almost 20 percent.
