Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Bank of America Corp. hired Brad Cameron from Royal Bank of Canada, the biggest merger adviser in Canada this year, to oversee mergers and acquisitions in the nation.
Cameron spent 17 years at RBC’s investment-banking arm, RBC Capital Markets, after stints at Bank of Montreal and Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc., Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America said in a statement today. He will be based in Toronto.
Cameron advised Petro-Canada on its sale this year to Suncor Energy Inc., the biggest oil deal in Canadian history, and is working with Addax Petroleum Corp. on its $7.2 billion sale to China Petrochemical Corp., also known as Sinopec Group.
Bank of America’s corporate and investment bank has announced at least three Canadian hires since the Jan. 1 takeover of Merrill Lynch & Co. The bank said in July it hired Citigroup Inc.’s Christopher Impey to run Canada corporate banking, and added Daljeet Lamba as a managing director in the unit.
RBC advised on $31 billion of Canadian deals this year, the most of any firm, according to Bloomberg data.
