June 30 (Bloomberg) -- Merrill Lynch & Co., the third- largest U.S. securities firm, named telecommunications analyst Glen Campbell the head of Canadian equity research.

Campbell, who has been with Merrill Lynch since 1996, replaces Ihor Danyliuk, who is leaving the firm, the New York- based company said today in an e-mailed statement. Campbell, who is based in Toronto, will continue to cover Canadian telecommunications companies and add U.S. telecom services to his responsibilities, the company said.

``Merrill Lynch is doing what our Canadian clients want us to do -- bringing deep sector expertise to bear on Canadian stocks from analysts based in both Toronto and New York,'' Steve Tighe, the firm's head of Americas equity research, said in the statement.
