April 14 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co. plans to add 500 jobs at its Oakville, Ontario, assembly plant as sales rise for crossover utility vehicles, the Globe and Mail reported.
The jobs were offered to about 1,000 workers laid off from Ford's engine plant in Windsor, Ontario. The second-biggest U.S. automaker will also hire new employees because only several hundred will be willing to move from Windsor, the Globe said today, citing an unidentified official with the Canadian Auto Workers union.
The Oakville plant will ramp up production of the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossover vehicles and begin making the Ford Flex, the newspaper said.
