Indonesian Fishermen Face Ruin Because of Oil Spill, ABC Reports

By John Viljoen

Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Indonesian fishermen are going bankrupt because the oil spill from the Montara field off northwestern Australia has ruined fish stocks, ABC News reported on its Web site, citing an environmental lawyer.

Fishermen in West Timor claim they are unable to go to sea after losing money because of poor catches, ABC cited the lawyer, David Jones, as saying. The Australian government will send a delegation to the area next week, the ABC reported.
