Minnesota Twins Will Resume Play Tomorrow After Bridge Collapse

By Danielle Sessa

Aug. 2 (Bloomberg) -- The Minnesota Twins will resume play at home tomorrow after postponing a game in the aftermath of a highway bridge collapse that killed at least four people.

The Twins, who begin their series against the Cleveland Indians tomorrow, postponed today's game against the Kansas City Royals at the Metrodome, which is just blocks away from the Interstate 35W bridge that buckled around 6 p.m. local time yesterday.

The Major League Baseball franchise also delayed a groundbreaking ceremony for its new ballpark.

The Minneapolis Police Department and Department of Public Safety told the Twins to proceed with their four-game series against the Indians, the team said in a statement. Fans should take public transportation to the game, the club said.

Minnesota didn't announce a makeup date for the postponed Royals game.
