Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Michael Strahan will not come out of retirement and rejoin the New York Giants following the season- ending knee injury of defensive end Osi Umenyiora, Fox Sports reported on its Web site.
Strahan told Fox, for whom he will work as a National Football League analyst this season, that the decision process after speaking with the team caused him ``one of the toughest nights of my life.''
``But after long deliberation and throwing around a million scenarios in my head for the past day, I think it's just best if I stay retired,'' said Strahan, the NFL's single-season sack leader who played 15 seasons for the Giants before retiring in June.
Umenyiora had surgery today to repair a torn lateral meniscus and will be sidelined for the entire season as the Giants attempt to defend their Super Bowl title.
