July 8 (Bloomberg) -- Joe Alexander, a first-round pick in this year's National Basketball Association draft, signed a multiyear contract with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Alexander, 21, played at West Virginia for three years and was the eighth selection. He averaged 18 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks last season for the Mountaineers. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed by the Bucks.
The 6-foot-8 power forward will join newly acquired Richard Jefferson, who was traded last month by New Jersey for Yi Jianlian. Milwaukee, 26-56, finished last in the Central Division during the 2007-08 season.
Alexander will be the first player born in Taiwan to play in the NBA.
