Wallabies Open Grand Slam Rugby Tour With 36-5 Win at Gloucester

By Dan Baynes

Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Australia opened its Grand Slam rugby tour of the U.K. and Ireland with a 36-5 win over English Premiership team Gloucester.

Wallabies fly-half Quade Cooper scored 16 points from a try, four conversions and a penalty. Drew Mitchell touched down twice in the last 15 minutes as Australia outscored the home team by five tries to one at Kingsholm stadium.

Australia now faces England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on successive weekends in November as it bids for a first sweep of Test victories in the U.K. and Ireland since 1984. The first match is Nov. 7 against England at Twickenham in London.

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans, who retained just one player who started the 32-19 loss to New Zealand in Tokyo three days ago for the Gloucester match, will name his team to face England in two days.
