Real Wins Madrid Derby to Keep Pace With Barcelona in La Liga

Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Real Madrid, playing with 10 men, held on to beat rival Atletico Madrid 3-2 and stay one point behind Barcelona in Spain’s Primera Liga.

Kaka, Marcelino and Gonzalo Higuain gave Real a 3-0 lead before Sergio Ramos was shown a red card in the 64th minute. Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguero then scored for Atletico and Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas was forced to make several late saves. Barcelona beat Real Mallorca 4-2 behind two goals from Pedro Rodriguez.

Schalke tied 1-1 with Bayern Munich in Germany’s Bundesliga. Schalke joins Werder Bremen and Hamburg with 22 points, four behind Bayer Leverkusen, which beat Frankfurt last night 4-0.

Rangers beat St. Mirren 2-1 in Scotland to pull within a point of Celtic, which is at Falkirk tomorrow. Juventus beat Atalanta 5-2 to close within four points of Italian leader Inter Milan, which hosts Roma tomorrow.

In France, Grenoble drew 0-0 at Monaco to end a run of 11 straight losses to open the season. Auxerre won 1-0 at Le Mans to move into third place behind Lyon and Bordeaux, which both play tomorrow.
