Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Barcelona, the European and Spanish soccer champion, plans to make a record 85 million-pound ($141 million) move for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, the News of the World reported, without citing anyone.
Barcelona is ready to make a bid for the 24-year-old England international at the end of the season, the newspaper said today. It would surpass soccer’s highest fee of 80 million pounds, paid by Real Madrid to United for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Rooney has said he wants to remain at United for his entire career, the News of the World added.
