Nov. 29 (Bloomberg) -- James Anderson claimed a five-wicket haul as England beat South Africa by seven wickets today in the fourth one-day cricket international.
Anderson’s 5-23 helped to dismiss South Africa for 119 in Port Elizabeth, with England reaching 121-3 in reply with more than 18 of its allotted 50 overs remaining.
England takes a 2-1 lead in the five-match series ahead of the final game in Durban on Dec. 4, which South Africa must win to force a tie. The opening match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Alviro Petersen led South Africa’s resistance with 51 runs, with only three other players reaching double figures. Stuart Broad and Paul Collingwood each took two wickets, while Tim Bresnan got the other.
England’s opening batsmen Jonathan Trott and Andrew Strauss shared a 74-run partnership before a mini-collapse left the visitors on 83-3. Trott scored an unbeaten 52, Eoin Morgan finished on 28 not out, and Strauss hit 32.
