Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp. agreed to ship flat panels to Prime View International Co., supplier to Amazon.com Inc.’s Kindle electronic-book reader, the two Taiwan companies said.
Chi Mei, Taiwan’s second-largest liquid-crystal-display maker, will supply the panels for Prime View’s e-paper displays from its fifth-generation plant, the companies said in a joint e-mail statement today.
The supply deal with Chi Mei “will enable PVI to provide more cost-competitive products to customers in the face of rapid demand growth in the e-paper market,” Scott Liu, chairman of the Hsinchu, Taiwan-based Prime View, said in the statement.
Jennifer Su, a spokeswoman at Prime View, declined to provide any more details about the supply agreement.
