Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Iraq, holder of the world’s third- largest oil reserves, is seeking bids from providers of drilling equipment as the Persian Gulf producer seeks to increase crude output from fields and new wells.
Potential bidders can request conditions and equipment specifications from Iraqi Drilling Co., according to a tender document posted on the Oil Ministry’s Web site. Interested companies should make technical and commercial bids by 2 p.m. in Baghdad on Nov. 22.
Iraq aims to increase oil production by drilling new wells and boosting recovery from existing reservoirs. The country is targeting output of 3.5 million barrels a day, according to a presentation by Oil Ministry adviser Jabbar al-Luaibi last month. The nation currently pumps about 2.5 million barrels a day.
Separately, the government is running licensing rounds for oil-field service contracts.
