Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Chef Daniel Boulud, who last month won three Michelin stars for Daniel in New York, is to open a bistro in London’s Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park next year.
Bar Boulud, London will follow the format of its namesake in New York, where the Frenchman has also opened Cafe Boulud, DB Bistro Moderne and DBGB Kitchen and Bar, on the Bowery. The French menu will include terrines and pates made under the direction of Gilles Verot, known for his charcuterie in Paris. The wine list will focus on Burgundy and the Rhone Valley.
“As a French Chef who has made New York City my home for over 25 years, I have my own cross-cultural approach,” Boulud said last night in an e-mailed press release. “This new restaurant will have New York’s energy and spirit, a little French soul and tradition and a touch of London.”
Bar Boulud, London will be located at street level and seat 165. The design will be by Adam Tihany and will feature vaulted ceilings paired with classic materials such as wood and leather. A bar topped in zinc with a cork panel coating will dominate the front of the restaurant.
Opening is scheduled for the spring, the release said.
Heston Blumenthal, the British chef who holds three Michelin stars for the Fat Duck, plans to open a restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental toward the end of next year.
