Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his 12-year-old son were treated for cuts and bruises at a hospital yesterday after a motorcycle accident near their Los Angeles home.
The governor received 15 stitches for a cut lip, spokeswoman Margita Thompson said in an e-mailed statement.
The accident occurred as the governor was driving a Harley- Davidson motorcycle with his son in the side-car at 3:15 p.m. local time. A car backed into the street in front of the motorcycle and the governor collided with it at low speed, Thompson said.
The other driver wasn't injured. Schwarzenegger and his son were both wearing helmets, and the governor is expected to keep his scheduled appointments today, Thompson said.
The statement didn't say whether either driver was ticketed. The Los Angeles police confirmed the incident occurred and didn't provide details.
